A small stream that supports both stocked and native trout, Frogtown Creek runs through the USDA Forest Service’s DeSoto Falls Campground and Recreation Area. Frogtown Creek is a small stream mentioned here more for its location than any other reason. From a purely fishing standpoint, the creek is overshadowed by its more popular neighbors to the east and west. However, the stream runs through the DeSoto Falls Campground. Although the creek runs right through a popular campground, fishing pressure is surprisingly light once you have taken a few steps away from the obvious access points. The stream is small, but tiny overlooked waters can sometimes hold big fish that live out their lives unmolested by anglers. Except for the lowermost portion of the stream, Frogtown Creek is within the boundaries of the Chattahoochee National Forest and Chestatee Wildlife Management Area. Some stocking takes place, and the fish caught will be a mix of wild and hatchery-raised rainbow trout. The farther you stray from the road access points, the greater percentage of wild trout in the creel. Key species: rainbow trout.
