With both stocked and wild rainbow and brown trout, Dicks Creek offers the opportunity to catch a quick limit of stockers or a wild trophy trout. Dicks Creek receives heavy stockings of catchable-sized trout throughout the season. The creek is also home to native trout, mostly in the higher elevations. Dicks Creek is known for the inordinate number of trophy fish it produces each season although no special regulations are in effect. Some of these large fish may be coming from Waters Creek, a tributary to Dicks Creek managed as a trophy stream. However, trout exceeding 20 inches have been caught well upstream of where Waters Creek enters the stream, and above several waterfalls that virtually eliminate Waters Creek as the source of these trophy fish. On Dicks Creek, this means the lower reaches of the creek near the road will see the most anglers and stocked fish, and the remote headwaters get very little fishing pressure and have wild trout. Dicks Creek is not only a favorite with anglers. Some pools on the lower section, especially near the falls, are popular swimming holes. During hot summer weekends, your energy is best focused farther upstream. Key species: rainbow trout, brown trout.
