This eTrail covers 10 different fishing destinations in these Florida counties including St. Johns River (Palatka to Little Lake George), Crescent and Dead Lakes, Lake Stella, Washington Oaks State Gardens, Bing Landing County Park, Varn Beach, Flagler Pier, Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area, Bulow Plantation Ruins State Historic Site, and the Atlantic Ocean. Striped bass fishing is popular along this part of St. John's river. One of the best known spots for stripers in the summer is the “Croaker Hole,” a freshwater spring that boils up from the river bottom. In July and August, when the shrimp migrate up the river, try using live shrimp to catch largemouth bass. Use a slip float to get your bait near the bottom in areas where there is current. Anchor upstream and drift back to where the bass are congregating.
