This site is on a large levee along the Savannah River near Augusta, and it involves birding along the river for migrant passerines. A dirt road is birdable for about 3 miles along the river, and since many migrants follow the large rivers on their way north or south, this can be an excellent spot to look for them. There are also a couple of nearby sites to check for other interesting species, including some swamp breeders. Key birds: Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, Prothonotary and Swainson’s Warblers, Louisiana Waterthrush, Painted Bunting, migrants. This guide provides detailed information on birding strategies for this specific location, the specialty birds and other key birds you might see, directions to each birding spot, and helpful general information.
