Watson Spring is a short trail that runs down from Georgia Highway 15 to the Oconee River, offering typical Piedmont woodland breeders along with migrants in spring and fall. It is a dirt jeep trail with a gentle slope and is easy walking. Nearby are a couple other small areas for roadside birding, including some different woods and weedy fields. This entire area can be birded thoroughly in a few hours. Morning is, of course, best. Key birds: Prothonotary, Kentucky, and Swainson’s Warblers; Louisiana Waterthrush, American Redstart, Scarlet and Summer Tanagers, Grasshopper Sparrow, Cliff Swallow.
