This section is made up of several small sites all close together. Any of them can be birded alone or as part of a loop, although some offer only a small enclosed area and others are near very long trails for hikers. This area is also near Brasstown Bald. Basically this route takes you along good paved roads to spots where you can either stop along the road to bird or start a morning hike. Several of them offer slightly different sets of birds, so you might want to read the whole section first to choose what interests you most. In addition to breeding species, look for migrants during late spring or early fall. Key birds: Canada, Blackburnian, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, and Chestnut-sided Warblers; American Redstart; Veery; Scarlet Tanager; Rose-breasted Grosbeak; Blue-headed Vireo; Acadian Flycatcher. This eTrail provides detailed information on birding strategies for this specific location, the specialty birds and other key birds you might see, directions to each birding spot, and helpful general information.
