This is a level, pleasant riverside walk on a section of the Appalachian Trail (AT) that offers quiet water to explore in summer; varied environments that provide homes to all sorts of wildflowers, birds, insects, and small mammals; and spectacular foliage in autumn months. This walk is suitable for all abilities. Of all the AT’s 53 miles in Connecticut, most of them are through steep and rugged terrain. However, there are a few sections of this trail that are more or less level and relatively easy to walk. This walk is one of those sections.
