This pleasant, easy trail offers a little bit of everything: great views, varied environments, even an old quarry. The trail starts on the north side of Brooks Road opposite Bear Hill Road. Follow the trail, a section of the Mattabesett, as it skirts a swamp. At 0.25 mile, the trail swings left across an old woods road. At 0.5 mile (Old Burn Crossing) it intersects with a blue-blazed loop trail; stay straight. A small, abandoned quarry is on your right. Continue on the trail as it crosses a brook and starts a steep climb up around a ledge. Keep to the left of the trail down the back side of the ledge. Rock overhangs dominate here.
