Gay City is a real live ghost town, a community that now exists only in the pages of local history. Once known as Factory Hollow, the name Gay City was stipulated by owners when they turned the land over to the state for use as a state park. Hiking trails throughout the park are well marked and offer the opportunity for a day-long hike or a relaxing afternoon ramble.
