Loop through some old estates along the Connecticut panhandle’s major river. The Mianus River is not well known outside the small portions of Fairfield and Westchester counties it flows through, but it boasts some beautiful parks along the river in New York and Connecticut. Two of those parks are located right next to each other along the Greenwich–Stamford municipal boundary. Mianus River Park is a 220-acre former estate jointly managed by both municipalities. Just south of it is the 84-acre Mianus State Park, combined from sections of two other former estates. The two have a combined trail system. The parks have become popular with trout anglers, mountain bikers, and dog walkers. This short loop is an excellent introduction to these two parks for hikers.
