The trail to the Rhododendron Sanctuary is blazed with pale-blue markers and begins at a sign across the road. Along the path, which was once part of Pachaug Trail, are patches of princess pine. Princess pine looks like a small, 4-inch-tall evergreen tree growing on the forest floor. Mingling with the running pine and princess pine are clumps of wintergreen and colonies of Canada mayflower.
