From the parking area near the restrooms and caretaker house, walk east through a grassy area in front of Crescent Lake dam. At the far (eastern) end of the dam, a trail blazed with white markers heads left (north), and a blueblazed trail turns right (note the small sign for Chauncey Peak on a tree). Follow the blue blazes into a woodland of elm, maple, black birch, flowering dogwood, and arrowwood. The flowering dogwood is especially beautiful along the south flank of Chauncey Peak, where the blush-colored blossoms brighten spring afternoons.
