The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum is a small but significant remnant of the freshwater tidal marsh that used to stretch for miles around the mouth of Darby Creek. The refuge is a good place to do some canoeing, hiking, bird watching and of course biking. This ride will take you around and through the refuge and show you the main sites. Despite its urban location the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge supports a large variety of wildlife. Hundreds of species of birds either nest here or stop in on their migration. This area is also home to a lot of small mammals and 9111 reptiles. There is a lot of wildlife to see if you take the time to look around. This ride will start with a loop around the roads outside the park to its east trail-head then take you back to the starting point through the refuge itself.
