Snowshoers are welcome to use the trails, but are expected to stay out of the ski tracks. Phillips Creek Trail System actually involves three state forests: Palmers Pond, Phillips Creek, and Turnpike. Together it comprises 11,098 acres of the West Almond Management Unit in Allegany County. Located just 4 miles from Alfred and 9 miles from the DEC Office of Lands and Forest at Belmont, the trails are frequently used by equestrians and hikers as well as cross-country skiers and snowshoers.Surface quality: Ungroomed, skier tracked.
