This beautiful hike travels a lightly used section of the Pacific Crest Trail in the remote Scott Mountains. Passing though beautiful meadows and boasting great views, the hike ends at the edge of lonely Bull Lake, scenic but underappreciated. Kangaroo Lake comes as a bit of a relief after driving up from the high desert valley of the East Fork of the Scott River. After climbing through the ponderosa and fir trees, the road suddenly ends at the lake, a glimmering, sapphire gem set amid pink and gray cliffs. Considering how remote it is, the lake itself receives its fair share of attention.
