Long and slender, Galiano Island is second-largest of the Gulf Islands, at 23 square miles. Named after Spanish explorer Dionisio Alcalá Galiano, who traveled this area in 1792, it has about 1300 residents. Good things indeed come in small packages. Although Bellhouse Provincial Park is a mere 5 acres (2 ha), it packs a scenic punch. With its close proximity to the ferry terminal and access via quiet country roads, Bellhouse is an ideal destination if you are visiting Galiano sans car.
