Thousands of miles of inlets, bayous, and back bays along the Gulf of Mexico allowed pirates, and some outlaw gangs, to hide out from the law. The Chickasabogue Park Loop will take you to the banks of one of those many rivers, Chickasaw Creek, where legend has it there may be buried treasure. Located just north of Mobile in Saraland is Chickasabogue Park, a 1,100-acre family-friendly park with plenty to do including disc golf, bike riding, camping, and hiking. In all, the park has 17 miles of hiking and biking trails that wind their way through a pine and mixed hardwood forest. Archaeologists have determined through the discovery of ancient campsites that Native Americans of the Woodland period lived here around 1500 BC.
