Seven major sandstone arches display their age, majesty, and delicacy on this great hike into Black Ridge Wilderness Area. The 75,550-acre wilderness forms the core of the BLM’s 123,000 acre McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, which was designated as a “nationally significant area” by Congress in 2000. Located near Grand Junction and Fruita, CO, it extends from the western border of the Colorado National Monument, into Utah. This area includes the second-largest collection of arches in the country outside Arches National Park, only 90 miles to the west.
