A demanding six- to eight-day trip that is one of the longer routes you can do out of McCarthy/Kennicott without a backcountry fly-in. This is a route to consider if you are looking for an extended adventure but can’t afford a backcountry bush flight. The pass over Bonanza Ridge lies between points 5906 and 6056. From the pass, drop down to McCarthy Creek and follow the line of least resistance. In the area of the Mother Lode mine is a section of private property—please don’t trespass.
