Stunning, in-your-face scenery highlights this four- to five-day trip. Up-close views of ice-encrusted Mount Jarvis and its neighbors provide jaw-dropping vistas. The terrain south of the landing strip is moderate and the route finding straight-forward. Follow a bearing to the southwest to arrive at WP-140, which is partway down the slope that leads to the Jacksina Glacier below. As you approach, Mount Jarvis will begin to show itself; when you reach the southern edge of the ridge, the whole incredible scene spreads out in front of you. Directly south Mount Jarvis looms, revealing a vertical north face that is only 5 miles away, though it seems even closer.
