These are two similar hikes that will give you a workout and terrific mountain and glacier views as well as a look at what life might have been like for the copper miners who lived and worked on Bonanza Ridge. None of the old mining structures on Bonanza Ridge are maintained or inspected or in any way warranted to be safe to enter. Doing so is always at your own risk. The trail to either Bonanza or Jumbo begins in Kennicott. Head north out of town on the dirt road that once served to connect the mines with Kennicott. At about mile 0.5 there is a signed junction indicating the Root Glacier Trail to the left and Jumbo and Bonanza Mines to the right.
