This is a short but interesting interpretive trail that begins outside the visitor center building at park headquarters. It’s a good introduction to the Alaskan boreal forest and has seven interpretive panels along the way that offer an interesting overview of this ecosystem. From several points along the trail, there are good views of the mighty Copper River. In a state known for big rivers, the Copper is an impressive sight. The river is fed by the massive glaciers of the Wrangell Range as well as countless tributaries and so is filled with tons of glacial silt.
