This route leads you from Brooklyn College via Marine Park to historic Floyd Bennett Field, the city’s first municipal airport. Today, the decommissioned airport serves as helicopter base and an array of other purposes—model airplane gliding, nature excursions, and bike racing, to name a few. The wide-open runways and winds from Jamaica Bay make for an exhilarating cycling experience. The ride is adaptable to distinct levels of cycling comfort, with an alternate starting point at Floyd Bennett Field itself, bypassing the road portion of this route.
