Durham is a former agricultural town in Middlesex County, north of the shoreline. The small town hosts the largest agricultural fair in Connecticut and is largely a residential community, with the majority of residents working in nearby job centers. The majority of this ride takes place along one long stretch of road (nearly 13 miles in total), visits the Guilford Green, and then returns on parallel roads that rejoin the main road near the end. CT 77 is a staple of many shoreline bike clubs’ weekend rides and can be included in a much longer route or ridden in the alternate direction, from Guilford to Durham. The longer, roughly 65-mile, route is included in the sidebar. Starting at the parking lot, turn right onto Main Street, and stay right at the triangle, onto CT 17 (New Haven Road).
