Settled in 1636 on the banks of the Connecticut River, Glastonbury is one of the oldest municipalities in the state. Glastonbury is a modern town with a charming, historic feel, and a carefully preserved natural environment. This ride starts in downtown Glastonbury on the Center Green, by Daybreak Coffee Roasters. Daybreak is a long, narrow cafe with healthy, hip fare, baked goods, and an espresso bar. On the same block is a bike shop, Cycling Concepts, and a few blocks away in a shopping plaza on the New London Turnpike is a second shop, Bicycles East. To extend this ride, refer to the previous route, Case Mountain: Road Bike Loop (Ride 7) for details on making a 34-mile figure-eight route.
