For the sake of doing an almost-century ride and following roughly the same path as the historic Cumbres and Toltec Railroad, this out-and-back route starts in Antonito. The ?rst 23 miles are essentially one long warm-up. You gain barely 800 feet as you transition from open ranchland to sagebrush country to the pine forests of the Conejos River valley.
