Mashamoquet (Mushmugget), meaning “stream of good fishing,” Brook flows west to east across this nearly 1,000-acre northeast Connecticut state park composed of rolling wooded terrain, natural rock features, and picturesque swamp. A pair of interlocking colored loops explore the area. This hike combines the Blue Loop with a visit to the swamp. Stone walls web the park. An old gristmill, maintained as a museum by the Pomfret Historical Society, recalls a milling past.
