Originating with a 1918 gift of land from the White Memorial Foundation of Litchfield, Connecticut, this 2,300-acre state park nudges the border with New York State. Split in half by the clear-skipping waters of Macedonia Brook, the park offers exciting ridgeline tours, vistas, and peaceful woods. Stonework and charcoal mounds hint at its ironwork past. During the Revolutionary War some one hundred Scatacook Indian volunteers attended signal fires atop these and other ridges in the Housatonic Valley.
