Seven major sandstone arches display their age, majesty, and delicacy on this great hike into the Black Ridge Wilderness Area. The 75,500-acre wilderness forms the core of the 123,000-acre McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, designated by Congress in 2000 as “a nationally significant resource.” Rattlesnake Canyon Arches Trail is adventurous and fascinating. Its colorful geological features include spires, windows, gorgeous giant alcoves, and at least seven fabulous arches (although some literature notes there are actually eleven arches here).
