Devils Kitchen is a great place for the entire family to play. A short out-and-back hike makes this an easy, quick way to explore the fascinating geology of the Colorado National Monument. Devils Kitchen Trail is a short out-and-back hike that will introduce you to the interesting geology and formations of the Colorado National Monument. The “kitchen” is simply a natural opening formed by a circle of huge upright sandstone boulders. The well-marked trail to Devils Kitchen is relatively gentle, but there is 229 feet of ascent as you climb among the freestanding monoliths of this area. The trailhead at the south end of the parking area is also the trailhead for No Thoroughfare Canyon, Echo Canyon, and Old Gordon Trail.
