A long walk in the woods to three beautiful mountain lakes, best suited for one or two nights out. It’s a tough 8 miles to reach Upper Great Falls Creek Lake, but it’s worth the effort. And you’ll probably have the entire lake basin to yourself. The Great Falls Creek Trail is different than trails up Bridge Creek and Fourmile Creek, which climb at the beginning and then level out. With a few minor flat sections, this trail climbs the entire way—not a steep grade, but steadily uphill. The steepest section is a short stretch at the beginning of the trail, unless you hike the extra mile from the upper lake to the pass, which is called West Boulder Plateau.
