Most of the way is easy going, but a short section through the impressive Granby Canyon may require an extra helping hand for your furry friend. Keep her close by here, for there are some steep drops. Through giant larches, cedars, fir and pines, the trail heads into the Granby wilderness. In this “dry interior” ecosystem, water is never a problem. The river is always nearby and plenty of creeks feed it along the way. One mile from the campground and 3.5 miles from the start, you’ll enter the canyon. The often-hidden river makes its way over and around giant boulders and cascades through a narrow, rocky chasm, like a southern Appalachian river. Watch your footing here. Short-legged pooches will need a boost or two. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
