Includes: Saddle Mountain Lookout. A unique soak in a cedar forest well hidden below a dirt road. Keep swimwear handy. A clearing in the forest reveals a concrete pool with free-flowing curves and a smooth and sloped bottom. The kidney-shaped pool is a good 20 ft/6 m long and 3 ft/1 m deep in the center. The springs emerge from fractures in nearby rocks and are piped into the pool to provide a blissful soak averaging 103 degrees F/39 degrees C. There is also a small pool in the rocks above. This one’s a bit hotter. St. Leon Hot Springs is on private property but open to the public. A hotel dating back to gold rush days once stood nearby, as at nearby Halcyon, but it burned down in 1968 and no trace remains today. The forest is magnificent, and the gourmet sampler of wild dips would be hard pressed to improve on the present user-built pool. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
