A long day hike or overnight hike to the second-highest summit in the Rincon Mountains. Although the climb to Rincon Peak and return can be done in one long day, it is more enjoyable to do the trip as a two- or even three-day backpack trip, using Happy Valley Campground as a base camp for a day hike up Rincon Peak. Special Considerations: During the hot summer weather, hikers should carry plenty of water on this long hike, which gains 4,200 feet. Backpacking is most enjoyable during April and May when the spring at Happy Valley Campground usually has water.
