This hike takes you through a cathedral of volcanic rocks to Lake Mead. Cleopatra Wash is aptly named. Its towering hoodoos, spires, and sculpted rock formations of every color suggest exotic lands far away. Since 2002, it has been a part of the 19,000-acre Jimbilnan Wilderness Area, which was named for three Park Service employees—Jim, Bill, and Nancy—who helped develop the inventory and proposal for the wilderness designation. Vehicle: HC/4WD.
