Most of the Santa Catalina Mountains have burned in huge wildfires during recent years, including the north portion of this loop. The trails may be blocked with deadfall or closed outright from time to time; check with the visitor center staff before starting your hike. From the Bear Canyon Trailhead, follow the Bear Canyon Trail northeast up rugged Bear Canyon. The trail stays near the bed of this seasonal stream for just over a mile. Here you can walk a short distance to a series of seasonal waterfalls known locally as Seven Falls.
