The trail to Macks Crossing is a short, easy hike into East Clear Creek. The creek is one of the rare, permanently flowing streams in Arizona, and you will always find water here. But since it is mostly an exposed trail, be sure to pack in water for you and your dog to have any trailside breaks you need—and as always, purify what you take to drink from the creek. Your route follows FR 137 down to the drainage, which is rocky but not too steep. The road is closed to passenger vehicles and, though all recreational uses are allowed, the trail is a quiet, remote way into East Clear Creek. Be sure to follow the leash rule, however, because you will occasionally see ORVs on this trail.
