The Red Tanks Divide Loop takes you through a remote section of the Sonoran desert in the headwaters of La Barge and Red Tanks canyons. Using a section of the popular Dutchmans Trail at the midsection, the hike finishes by climbing over a high ridge with good views of the central Superstition Mountains. Water sources are far apart at the beginning and end of the loop. All the springs are seasonal, and they may be dry in the fall or after a dry winter. On the other hand, if the winter rains are plentiful, every creek will be running and the spring flowers will be in full bloom.
