This trail, which connects with the park’s other two trails, passes by historic Magnesia Springs, once well known for its therapeutic mineral waters. Around the turn of the twentieth century, refrains of old-timey gospel hymns rang out through the woods of what is now Logoly State Park. Evangelists held revivals throughout the summer, and preachers baptized their flocks at camp meetingS. At that time the area was called Magnesia Springs and was well known for its many natural springs, which welled up through the forest floor. The mineral waters were purported to have medicinal qualities, and this, along with the sylvan beauty of the locale, attracted people from far and wide to the two hotels that stood only a quarter of a mile from the Cottonbelt Railroad.
