The highest peak in Yosemite National Park. Mount Lyell dominates the Tuolumne high country. With its summit spire extending out of the glacier, it would be a desirable peak anywhere. Add its serene, remote location, and it becomes a sought-after and rewarding adventure. Mount Lyell is a massive peak surrounded by snow and glaciers, rising beside its impressive neighbor, Mount Maclure. This is a long hike, so plan accordingly. Most parties will bivouac along the way and do this climb in two or even three days from the trailhead (though it is often done in one long day).
