Aesthetically pleasing: From the trailhead, from the town of Bridgeport, or from Highway 395 and beyond, it commands the eye. You will know which one it is and why you want to climb it. Matterhorn is the northernmost major peak of the High Sierra, with spectacular views from the summit. Matterhorn Peak sits in the northeastern corner of Yosemite, with the national park boundary running right across its summit. Though only 4 miles from trailhead to summit, the elevation gain is over 5,000 feet, pushing what would be a moderate climb into the strenuous category. For all this, the climb is mostly straightforward and follows well-used trails the whole way.
