This eTrail is a detailed description of an adventurous loop through the Grand Canyon backcountry. Here is an excerpt from this eTrail's route description. "Shiva Saddle is broad and dotted with big Supai boulders that can collect water during a rain—but don’t count on finding any unless you’re there within a few days of the rain. I have been told that there is a small spring in the Supai just below and to the west of the saddle on the north side. Look for some bright telltale greenery as a clue to its location before spending time searching for it. Bypass the chockstone to the south by climbing out of the drainage at the S-bend as shown on the map and going down a slope to a ravine that leads to the spring. You will hear the spring long before you see it. The spring has been running well the four times I have been there—once in July, once in September, and twice in October. It is an easy day from the Dragon Spring to the mouth of Crystal Creek. The water in Crystal Creek is almost too warm for swimming on hot summer afternoons, but there is a big pool beneath a 15-foot waterfall about half an hour from the mouth that feels somewhat cooler."
