This is a classic Gila corridor loop hike in a spectacular river canyon with massive cliffs and unusual rock formations. The return arc of this counterclockwise loop explores a narrow slot canyon with soaring walls, turrets, columns, and alcoves. The spectacular Middle Fork Gila River canyon offers a scenic, winding trail with almost no perceptible ascent. However, with at least six river crossings per mile, the travel is slow and arduous and can therefore be best enjoyed as an overnighter.
