This trail has been in place for years and was probably the result of activity around the abandoned Hyde mine. With some use and the movement of a few rocks a great little trail through the middle of the hogback on BLM land can be used by families for the afternoon or technical mountain bikers for a short ride. Start by driving east on Hassler Valley road from Miyamura overpass about 2.4 miles. The frontage road goes up a big hill and goes through the same road cut as I-40 through the hogback. Park in the split between the hogbacks near the east edge. Hop the fence and go north initially through a small arroyo. Pick up a trail that heads to a small rock outcrop between the hogback ridges. The trail heads directly north and clings to the western slope of a very steep canyon not visible from the road. The trail comes out of the canyon and traverses east to a break in the hogback allowing a great view of Pyramid Rock and to the east.
