The ruin is built into a cliff at the southern edge of Saddle Mountain in the San Francisco Mountains of western New Mexico. By my best estimation, it contains only one large room made by covering the front of a natural enclave with a crudely built masonry wall, which still stands about 7 feet high and 30 feet wide. The wall contains a half-dozen loopholes and a single large opening that probably served as a doorway. The reason the number of rooms is not certain is that the dwelling is completely inaccessible without rock-climbing gear. You can get close, but you can’t go inside. No doubt the Native Americans who built the dwelling used ladders or ropes to access the site. If attacked, all they’d have to do is drop “countless great stones” on the enemy.
