At Bakersfield, steadily pumping oil wells begin to share the landscape—and often the same fields—with agricultural crops and livestock. The city is home to the Kern County Museum, which includes 50 historic buildings, and to the California Living Museum, the Lori Breck Children's Discovery Center, and the Cunningham Memorial Art Gallery. Farther south, near Lebec, Fort Tejon features a restored dragoon barracks and museum. Eastward, a few small but picturesque lakes dot the Sierra Nevada foothills, offering fishing and water sports. Campgrounds included in this eTrail are: Kern River County Park, Buena Vista Aquatic Recreation Area, Brite Valley Aquatic Recreation Area, McGill, Mount Pinos, Chula Vista, Campo Alto, Toad Springs, Caballo, Marian, Valle Vista, and Tehachapi Mountain Park.
