Located in the big horn mountains, the character of the Hummingbird Springs Wilderness is only slightly different from its sister wilderness to the south. It has the same Sonoran Desert vegetation— saguaro cactus, ocotillo, palo verde, ironwood, mesquite, jojoba, creosote, and prickly pear. And the same animals—gila monster, golden eagle, kit fox, cactus wren, canyon towhee, mountain lion, desert tortoise, and prairie falcon. The only difference, and it’s slight, is that the terrain is slightly less rugged than in the Big Horn Mountains Wilderness. This trail guide covers an area with no maintained trails.
