The Russell Cave Trail provides a nice hike through forest and wildflowers in extreme northeast Alabama. The trail first heads up the side of Montague Mountain, then winds downhill. At the foot of the mountain, the trail becomes a wooden boardwalk into Russell Cave, a large limestone cave that has sheltered humans for more than 9,000 years. Trail Surface: Asphalt footpath; wooden boardwalk.
