The Lost Falls Trail takes you to Laurel Falls, Lost Falls, and Azalea Cascade. Geological highlights include Needle Eye Rock, a boulder that has split in half, leaving an “eye.” The trail also travels by the CR Caves, small cavelike overhangs cut away over the millennia by Laurel Creek. Trail Surface: Dirt path; some rocky slopes. Water is everywhere at DeSoto State Park, with waterfalls scattered throughout the park and the Little River churning white within Little River Gorge. You’ll also find lush forests and colorful wildflowers. It’s no wonder the park is sometimes called the home of Mother Nature. The park straddles the river and covers more than 5,000 acres within Little River Canyon National Preserve.
