The Camp Road Trail at Buck’s Pocket State Park is an easy hike along the dirt camp road that follows the flow of South Sauty Creek. The Sauty is lined with sandstone boulders that create active rapids. During periods of low rainfall, you can hike along the banks of the river, which runs parallel to the trail—though you may find some of the boulders difficult to get around. The views of the sandstone cliffs along Hilley Point are quite beautiful. Trail Surface: Dirt road. Located just a few miles from Guntersville, Buck’s Pocket State Park is another jewel in the Alabama park system, offering waterways, sandstone bluffs, rare plants, and high overlooks for taking it all in.The 2,000-acre park cradles the ruggedly beautiful South Sauty Creek, which is responsible for the park’s stunning canyon scenery.
